Can I use a colorful iron tray as a focal point of my living room design?

I recently moved into a fairly old apartment with a reserved aesthetic. I like how safe the design is, but I believe it could be improved. I've been looking for ways to spruce up the space, and I'd like to have a focal point that can easily spark conversation when guests arrive. My sister suggested using colorful iron trays, but I'm unsure if they'll work
