A floral rug is visually eye-catching. So respect its dominance and keep the plants in your living room more neutral - mostly greens, and perhaps just a few dotted around the room rather than in one big, busy group. It's a good idea to have flowering plants in only one or two colors to compliment the floral rug. A variety of leaf shapes in your plants will also conflict with the busyness of a floral rug.
