Would a Persian-style rug clash with a solid-colored wall?
Asked 4 years ago
My grandmother's 80th birthday is in two months' time. I want to get her a rug and do a mini makeover of her living room. I was thinking of changing the wall color, maybe getting wallpaper or using a solid color, but I'm not sure if they would complement each other.

No. Many Persian rugs have distinctive patterns on them. It is important to break these up with a solid wall color. Using a color that is in the same family will allow the wall and the carpet to complement each other without being overwhelming. The rug, then, will have a much stronger presence and be the highlight of the room.
