Can I use an iron tray as a decorative accent piece for an Ottoman?

I've been thinking of remodeling my living room by adding a couch set with an ottoman. My roommate wants us to get an ottoman that we can repurpose as a coffee table when we have guests over. I'd hate it to be a vanilla space and I want to add personality to it. Can I use iron trays for this?
