Are iron trays an excellent choice for keeping beverages cool on hot days?

I live in a very dry area, so the summers in my house are extremely hot and dry. I'm looking for trays to serve guests and my family when we get together. Because of their appearance and durability, my husband suggested we get iron trays for this. I'm curious if they're also good at keeping things cool.
