Can neutral rug colors like white make a living room feel airy and spacious?

My husband wants to remodel our house this year, and we want a facelift. We've always been inspired by Greece's Mediterranean color palette, and we'd like to do something similar. We have small rooms in our house, but we want them to feel more open and airy than they do now. Can we use neutral rug colors to make them appear larger?

 Light colored rugs with very little to no patterns can definitely make a room appear larger and more spacious. You can also consider lighter shades of Greek Meditteranean colors. Natural-looking neutrals, or off-white rugs can be visually appealing it a light and subtle way. Since the rooms are small, brighter, or bolder colors may cause the room to appear even smaller. Neutral rugs are your best bed to create a sense of airy openness.
