Which organic rug materials are asthma-friendly?
Asked 3 years ago
Both my kids have asthma, and it's something that I always have to keep in mind when choosing the finishing touches for our house. I want to buy a new rug for the living room and bathrooms. Which organic rug materials should I be looking out for that are guaranteed to be asthma-friendly?

Rugs or carpets can be a reservoir for allergens that can trigger asthma, such as dust mites, mold, mildew and pollen. Wool rugs are a natural filter and can trap allergens. Wool is also naturally non-allergenic, preventing the growth of bacteria. Jute rugs have strong and tight fibres, meaning the fibres won't release into the are. Other great options are sisal rugs and natural grass rugs such as seagrass and hemp.
