Are rich earthy tones part of the rustic design color palette?
Asked 4 years ago
I want to redesign my bedroom in a rustic design, starting with painting the walls. I want something open and light but also has an earthy, natural feel about it. I’m not sure if bold and rich tones are part of this design.

Rich earthy tones are indeed part of a rustic color palette, if you are thinking of African or Asian country looks. However, rustic can also mean a lighter color like lime wash, or pale sandy colors. Before you choose your wall paint, consider what color your furnishings and fabrics will be, to avoid a dark and cluttered look. Rustic earthy tones can be very appealing in soft furnishings like quilts and curtains. If you paint the walls a solid, warm color, like amber or chocolate, then blend your furnishings in with a lighter tone.
