Does premium vinyl need extra caution to minimize premature wear?

I have premium vinyl floors, and I have been very cautious with them, ensuring they get all the TLC required. I don't want my floor to have scratched and worn out too quickly, so I've been extraordinarily very careful not to drop heavy objects or scrape a chair across it. I'm unsure if this helps slow down the wear and tear process.
