Should I be worried that vinyl rugs aren't soft enough for my baby?

I work from home, and I like having my baby near me while I work. It was different when I could have her in the crib while I worked, but my daughter just started crawling, and I don’t want her crawling directly on the floor. I was looking into getting a vinyl rug for my home office, but I want one that is aesthetically pleasing but also child-friendly enough to protect my baby's little hands and knees. Are vinyl rugs a good option?
