Can I mix and match animal prints with solid colors?

I have my eye on an animal print rug, but my living room is a solid paint color. I have a few pieces that would mix well with the type of animal print, but I’m not sure if the solid background of my walls will allow the rug to stand out. I don’t want the pattern to clash with the wall.

Yes absolutely. It can depend on your chosen animal print. Prints such as cow, leopard, cheetah, zebra or tiger would do well with solid and bright colours. If you're incorporating lion, bear or more tanned animal prints, you can add some vibrant patterns to work with a more subtle palette.
