Do plants complement floral rugs as decorative pieces?
Asked 2 years ago
I have a floral rug in my living room and a bunch of houseplants that have no proper place in the house. I want to add the plants to the living room, but I’m not sure if the plants will complement the rug well. Would incorporation of other floral accents in the room be a great idea or a bit too much?

A floral rug is visually eye-catching. So respect its dominance and keep the plants in your living room more neutral - mostly greens, and perhaps just a few dotted around the room rather than in one big, busy group. It's a good idea to have flowering plants in only one or two colors to compliment the floral rug. A variety of leaf shapes in your plants will also conflict with the busyness of a floral rug. You could choose one simple large plant to balance the visual weight of the rug. Spread the other plants around the house!
