Are neutrals like grey ideal for enhancing the patina color scheme of Mediterranean interior design?

I recently visited my family in southern Italy and fell in love with the Mediterranean palette. It inspired me to remodel my villa home in the same style. I've been trying out different color schemes, but I need help figuring out how to make the design flow. My friend suggested trying grey premium vinly rugs. Will it work well with the Mediterranean patina style?

Although the Italian colors are very rich in chromatic tone, the favorite of these colors is white. Beige, taupe, and a combination of gray hue and light beige are also commonly seen in Italian villas. These tones bring rustic accents of a traditional style home and are very inviting.
