Does an entryway tile rug need to be the same size as a standard welcome mat?
Asked 2 years ago
My mom and dad want to add an entryway tile rug to their house. I am helping them pick out the tiles they want and arrange them in a fun design. The one thing that none of us can decide on is an appropriate size for the tile rug. I have it in my mind that the rug needs to be the same size as any standard welcome mat. Is this right?

If your parents want the tile rug to serve the purpose of a welcome mat, then yes, it should be the size of a welcome mat. But if they're planning on using the tile rug as a focal point or an attraction piece in the room, they can make it any size they want. Just keep in mind that a small entryway will look best with a tile rug the size of a standard welcome rug while a bigger foyer will look fantastic with something bigger and bolder.
