Will my premium vinyl rug crack if I drop a heavy object on it?

I am considering getting a vinyl rug with geometric prints just to give my living room a more modern vibe. I hear vinyl can be sensitive because it may be more prone to damage and indentation. Should I be worried about my rug cracking if I accidentally drop heavy items on it, especially if it is placed in the kitchen and dining room?
