Can I stagger different color mosaic designs to form a large Mediterranean tile design?

I am renovating the kitchen in my new apartment. My mom recently showed me a picture of a beautiful Mediterranean-style kitchen, and I am basing my renovation on that! I am excited to create my own large Mediterranean tile design, but I want to do so by staggering different color mosaic tiles. Will this make a good Mediterranean tile design?
