Are premium vinyl placemats resistant to fading and tearing when washed regularly?

I am upgrading my tableware and especially want to freshen up my placemats. My friend suggested that I try out premium vinyl placemats this time. I am looking for durable placemats that can last for a long time when washed regularly, and I don't know if I should get vinyl placemats instead of fabric ones. Are premium vinyl placemats resistant to fading and tearing if routinely washed?
