What color palettes match animal print rugs?

I just bought a beautiful animal print rug, and I want to paint my walls to bring more harmony to the space. The issue is that it becomes a bit confusing to decorate with animal prints. I don't usually go for them. I want to make the rug the basis of the décor, but I’m not sure if I should use a tribal color palette.

It depends on the kind of animal print rug you have. For a really attractive appearance that won't overwhelm your eyes, stick to neutral colors such as black, brown, and rust. White can also work well with animal prints. Make sure the colors you choose go well with the rest of the room.
