Is terracotta a good warm color for a Mediterranean-inspired rug design?

My wife is Italian, and I want to surprise her by remodeling our house with her favorite region's design styles. I have been inspired by her hometown's Mediterranean style, and I want a premium vinyl rug with similar earthy tones. Is terracotta perfect for creating an Italian-inspired design?

Daring choices are at the center of the Italian design. If you choose a neutral color palette for majority of the room, then a pop of warm color such as a terracotta vinyl rug is an excellent choice as this will create a focal point that gives a modern touch.
